One of the experiences that created me and led me to graphic design was that I had been doodling for 10 years since I was 14. Labels, names and letters were the main elements we scattered on the streets at that time. This language form injects posters into the pre event media of public space, and the way of saying “wall” has a lot in common. No wonder my early stage as a graphic designer was to make posters for school parties, graffiti shops, and rap artists’ concerts.
At the same time, I have always been attracted by the power of constructing language and its decision, dissemination and any specific information. Languages are inspired by text archiving, sharing, printing and copying. A powerful tool for advertising, propaganda, political speeches, religious beliefs or emotional expression. On this basis, I discussed its ability from a conceptual perspective, that is, to make designs in simple form and in a condensed sense, so as to have a greater impact.
Slogans, jokes, idioms, catchwords, subtitles, and other similar shortcuts, larger and more complex stories aimed at the public, all caused me to think. I am attracted by how language is formed through visual communication, encouraging or discouraging morale, uniting or splitting, raising awareness or spreading false beliefs. As a designer, many of my projects are exploring these ideas. For example, use the limited edition takeout handbag of Polysans Bulk on the happy yellow fabric. This project involves the meaning of these two words today, the use of handbags, and the promotion of Miros Microvic fonts.
In fact, this is one of the many ways I have explored with type designers. For me, fonts are not only basic design tools, but also real inspiration. I think they are the courage of concept, emotion and gesture. Usually, in Valerio Monopoli’s Gatwick fonts, certain types(such as Plain Jane T-shirts) trigger ideas in my mind.
In general, my design method can be described as sharp, transparent and frank. It requires the attention of the audience, tries to gain their trust, and allows multiple interpretations. I want the results to be direct, honest, serve their purposes, and convey information directly. My goal is to be easy to identify, beautiful in design, able to speak general language, and able to reach a wider audience. Poster Jam’s challenge The poster left at home is one of them. There, I want to capture the shocking global information of covid-19 and use comfortable elements, such as dear Helvetica font, light blue color tone closely related to hygiene and cleanliness, and interesting curves of Typefesse Pline font.
I do not adopt one or another style, but follow my own creative method, starting from the accumulation of information and ending with condensed meaning and abstraction. First of all, I conducted a comprehensive study of the given topic, collected all necessary materials, and then dealt with them to find a reasonable hierarchy between them. Finally, I eliminated all seemingly unnecessary or unnecessary things. For example, the 365+1 project with Georgia Harizani can be seen as a simple exercise, which implements the work system and involves a large number of topics, such as calendars.
Calendar is an ongoing project. In 2021, a new calendar will appear in front of you soon. In addition, through the online platform I am currently creating, other merchs will appear. Together with Georgia Harizani, we are currently planning interesting new specimens that will be available soon. My efforts are also to expand my online and offline contacts, introduce my works to a wider audience, and develop bold, radical and unexpected design, open creativity, brands and new partnerships.
I will continue to congratulate modern design through my blog, keep alert to what is happening today, carry out experiments, and further promote my creativity. I hope to continue to participate in new projects in the new logo of Highpoint Home, such as the gentle posture of raising the title above “i”.
