I told some of my friends that under no circumstances would they discuss the “trifles” of the film with me. This is because I am a big fan of Denzel Washington. I haven’t seen the film yet. Last weekend, my nephew got the EMT license, and my cousin passed the lawyer exam. Not to mention celebrating their achievements is more important than the film release. Last weekend was the Super Bowl. Making a visit plan and actually watching the game is the main theme of the whole weekend. I’m going to the movies next weekend. This is a guarantee.
But the release of another film featuring the symbolic character Denzel Washington made me think: “What are the top ten roles he plays, and in what order will I arrange them?” It goes without saying that Denzel Washington is one of the top 10 roles in his career. I have provided my favorite character, and by far I think his experience can best be defined.
Glory(1989)
In this film, Denzel Washington plays a fugitive slave who joined the federal army during the Civil War and travels privately. With his wit, he can defeat other troops, but commanders think he is not so attractive. One of the most unforgettable moments in the film was when Tripp was whipped and punished in front of other troops. A tear of defiance ran down his face. It was an exciting performance, and Washington, as the most memorable member of the supporting role, grabbed the show.
9 – Elise(2010)
Since then, with the end of the world as the background, human beings tried to rebuild civilization, and Washington dressed as an impossible hero. There are several plot twists and turns in the film, which keep the audience alert. Washington released several wonderful monologues in the film. He plays a tramp named Eli, who finds himself in a fierce struggle with people whose intentions to the world are at best complex. This film is worth seeing, because it is a script of genius, wonderful action scenes, and the most important is the performance of Washington.
8 – Flights(2012)
Captain Hewlett Packard Whitaker is no stranger to cocaine and alcohol. Whitaker miraculously landed, saved the plan in danger, and was called a hero. However, if Whitaker is found to be drunk during the flight, this state will face serious danger. This film tells the story of a man who fights and reconciles with the devil. Lessons about honesty and self discovery can be learned from this film. Third, Washington staged an amazing performance that the audience will never forget.
7. The Devil of the Blue Dress(1995)
Washington’s character Easy and Donshadel’s character Mouse have the best live chemistry in film history. The two play old friends. They found themselves caught in a network of lies. In order to survive, the truth must be found. The film is set in Los Angeles in the late 1940s. Denzel performed wonderful action scenes with funny and witty characters, showing his versatility again. Throughout the film, Washington’s charm and demeanor make the audience feel that they are reviewing the past. This film is a must see for all Denzel fans.
6-Mo ‘Better Blues(1990)
Blake Gillian the trumpet is one of the most popular jazz musicians in New York. He is also one of the most qualified bachelors in this city. It’s interesting to imitate Washington’s role as a musician and lady. But it was his heart that brought him trouble. Washington once again expressed the charm of this film with a unique calm style. Among the cast of many stars, Denzel’s acting skills are the best.
5-Antwone Fisher(2002)
Washington plays Jerome Davenport, a military doctor, who is assigned to provide advice to Antwone Fisher, a young soldier. Derek Luke’s description of Fisher is exciting, but Washington’s character is also very persuasive. While helping the young soldier deal with his complex past, Dr. Davenport became a father like figure. Denzel shows strength, discipline and compassion in this film. His acting is as good as the script.
4 – Philadelphia(1993)
Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks are the two greatest actors in history. In this film, they remind us why. The Washington character, Joe Miller, is a lawyer defending wrongly dismissed lawyers. The film tells about the problems of shame and fear in society. Denzel’s performance is full of fun; he delivered one of the best court speeches in film history.
3-Malcolm X(1992)
From speech mode to dressing style, behavior and even walking, Denzel absolutely described his description of the legendary humanitarian Malcolm X. This is one of the most important films about the struggle for equality among African Americans. The performance in Washington had several memorable moments. Denzel published several moving monologues, and his indelible image left a deep impression on the audience.
2-John Q.(2002)
If the word “tear jerker” is appropriate, it is the person who is dedicated to saving his son’s life. When John Archibald found that the hospital would release his young son without urgent cardiac surgery, he did it himself. The film easily transited from a play to an action film. Washington’s actions were impeccable and achieved their goals in all scenarios.
1 – Training Day(2001)
Denzel’s description of Detective Aaron Joe Harris is gripping from beginning to end. Harris is a rogue policeman who participates in gang activities and crimes on the streets of Los Angeles. Washington confirmed the action scenes. In addition to drama, he is sometimes humorous. This film is not just a must see for Denzel fans; anyone who likes a crime movie, if he doesn’t watch it, is hurting himself. This is the most complex and attractive of all the classic performances Washington has given to the fans over the years. This is really a masterpiece of an entertainment fan.
This is my list of the greatest roles of Denzel Washington. Although there are many great actors in film history, Danzel’s versatility and consistency make him my favorite person. Like all great actors, we will never forget the performance he gave us. His films are not only thought-provoking, but also very interesting. We should thank him for sharing his gifts with us over the years.
